Review of the
new BenRiach
Peated Cask Strength Batch 1
 The BenRiach fans amongst you will
recall that this time last year The
BenRiach launched Batch 1 of BenRiach’s
Cask Strength well today the distillery
announced the launch of Batch 1 of a
new BenRiach Peated Cask Strength
expression to pair with its classic Cask
Strength offering.
The new BenRiach Cask Strength Batch 1
is bottled at 56% ABV, natural colour
and non chill filtered, BenRiach say it
offers notes of campfire smoke and
toasted oak balanced perfectly with
BenRiach’s signature orchard fruit and
barley notes.
Global Brand Ambassador Stewart Buchanan
commented: "Our new Peated Cask Strength
Batch 1 is an exciting first for the
distillery. Made with heavily peated
malted barley to produce a unique, smoky
expression, it also captures the
Speyside character of BenRiach.

Speyside notes, and this whisky is a

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Vanilla tablet, buttery, mild pear, some
lovely gentle wisps of earthy peat and
pepper.
Taste:
A caramel infusion and a little pear
accompanies the delicious mouth coating
sugary sweet smoke.
Finish: Long, more caramel,
sweet, peppery, a little dark coffee,
lingering and slightly drying gentle
earthy peat and oak spice.
Comment:
Youngish and deliciously fun, many of
the best peaty drams are best served
young and for a good reason, it works
and it certainly works here. Not even a
touch of roughness even at cask
strength. With the warmer weather
approaching ( I hope, I am in Scotland
so no guarantee ) I would say this would
be a great choice as a peaty summer
dram.
