Introducing the deliciously juicy Ardmore Port Wood Finish.
The Ardmore Port Wood Finish 12 year old is the newest addition to the expanding Ardmore whisky range. Matured for 12 years in American white oak and finished in small European half port pipes, it has been bottled at 46% ABV and I am pleased to say is non chill filtered.
The new Ardmore Port Wood Finish joins the
Ardmore Legacy, which replaced Ardmore Traditional Cask as the distillery’s core expression.
I have to say that a port cask influence on this lightly peated Highland dram sounded very appealing to me when I heard about it as port and a little smoke can work very well together if balanced correctly. You can read my tasting notes below to see what I thought of it.
Peter Sandstrom, Marketing Director, Maxxium UK who distribute Ardmore whisky commented: "Following the success of The Ardmore Legacy, which has established its status in the peated single malt category, the launch of The Ardmore Port Wood Finish further cements the quality and taste of the brand’s portfolio.
"The Ardmore Port Wood Finish is an excellent whisky made using the same traditional distilling methods for over 100 years. It is a unique and premium expression - with notes of sweet red apple and honey with the subtlest hint of charcoal smoke and a smooth, long, lingering finish culminating in the trademark Ardmore dryness – it is a whisky that offers a taste that sets it apart."
