Part 2 of the Amazon Prime travelogue
series with a drinks twist, The Three
Drinkers do Scotch Whisky, is now
streaming live on Amazon prime with new
episodes.
The series follows TV presenters and
professional drinks writing trio, Helena
Nicklin, Aidy Smith and Colin
Hampden-White on a new adventure through
Scotland. Starting on the isle of Jura
and heading west through Campbeltown,
the trio take in Glasgow and the
university's ground-breaking whisky
tongue. They then take a road trip
through stunning locations including the
Scottish Highlands, trying their hands
at various physical challenges and of
course, tasting drams at distilleries.
"Episodes 5, 6 and 7 have quite a
different feel," says Aidy Smith.
"There’s more adventure, more travel and
tourism and we even start to taste
spirits - shock horror - other than
whisky!"
The team visit new brand partners: The
Dalmore, Jura Single Malt Scotch Whisky,
Fettercairn Highland Single Malt, Glen
Scotia, Loch Lomond Whisky, Glen Moray,
Firkin Gin and Master of Malt.
Whilst on Jura, the Three Drinkers met
with some of the people that make up
this special, tiny island community. The
trio met with Gini, who works in the
Jura distillery visitor centre, but also
creates and sells handmade jewellery
inspired by the island and body
positivity. They went on a boat trip to
see George Orwell’s House and spot
wildlife, before a tasting and interview
with Distillery Manager, Graham Logan in
the Jura Lodge.
During their trip to The Dalmore, the
trio learned about the royal heritage of
the brand, dating back to the reign of
King Alexander III in 1263 and the
entrepreneurial spirit, passion and
innovation that have been integral to
creating its whiskies of legendary depth
and finesse. Whilst visiting the
distillery, they tried The Dalmore Aged
51 Years, a very special whisky of which
on 51 bottles have been created.
Later in the series, after travelling
through the Cairngorms, the trio arrived
at the Fettercairn distillery to meet
with distillery manager, Stewart Walker.
The discussion centred on the
distillery’s treasure trove of rare and
aged stocks, while in conversation with
whisky maker Gregg Glass, Colin learns
about the extraordinary lengths
Fettercairn has gone to to capture the
purest expression of its whisky’s
character.
Steven Pearson, Global Marketing
Director at Whyte & Mackay, said "We’re
delighted to be able to give The Three
Drinkers and their fans a glimpse behind
the scenes at our distilleries and the
opportunity to gain greater insight into
the innovative techniques and
craftsmanship required to produce these
very distinct whiskies.
"We’re extremely proud to showcase the
innovation and heritage of our whiskies
and honoured to have hosted Helena, Aidy
and Colin at our distilleries. We hope
the series will deepen viewers’ love and
passion for whisky and perhaps encourage
others to try it."
