From Heritage
to Revival: The London Distillery
Company launches its first 10 Year Old
Single Malt, a single cask, a remarkable
journey, and a defining moment for
London whisky.

The London Distillery Company (TLDC) has
unveiled Ten Times Around the Sun, set
to become London’s first 10 Year Old
single malt whisky—a milestone release
that marks a significant chapter in the
city's renewed whisky renaissance.
Crafted from Quench spring barley and
filled on 20 October 2015 into a single
ex-bourbon cask (#007), Ten Times Around
the Sun is bottled at 51.4% ABV. It is
non–chill filtered and naturally
coloured, underscoring TLDC’s dedication
to preserving genuine flavour. The
whisky is accompanied by distinctive
artwork that reflects its decade-long
maturation, illustrating ten full solar
orbits and the slow progression of time
that has shaped the spirit.
This limited release comprises just 220
bottles, priced at £89.95, and will be
available from Friday 27 February via
www.londondistillery.co.uk.
Founded in 2011, TLDC became the first
new whisky distillery to open in London
since the closure of Lea Valley
Distillery in 1903. Inspired by the
city’s overlooked distilling legacy, the
distillery operated from a compact yet
ambitious site in Battersea, quickly
earning recognition for blending
traditional techniques with a modern,
forward-thinking approach.
Since its revival in 2025, TLDC has been
re-establishing its role in London’s
whisky scene, setting the groundwork for
future bottlings and reconnecting the
city’s historic distilling roots with
its contemporary aspirations. Ten Times
Around the Sun represents this journey—a
whisky that safeguards a notable
fragment of London’s distilling heritage
while signalling an exciting new era.
As one of the distillery’s earliest
casks, ex-bourbon barrel #007 has
matured over ten years, witnessing the
expansion of England’s whisky industry
and the emergence of new London-based
distillers. Having survived TLDC’s
closure in 2019, the cask now stands as
a testament to the company’s resilience,
reinforcing London’s status as a
credible and dynamic whisky-producing
region.
Speaking about the release, Matt McKay,
TLDC Managing Director and Whisky Maker,
said: "Ten Times Around the Sun marks a
defining moment for The London
Distillery Company. It honours one of
our earliest casks, capturing the
original spirit that began our journey.
This release is a tangible piece of
London’s whisky history, surviving the
distillery’s closure in 2019 and now
emerging as a symbol of our return. This
is a whisky born of our past, shaped by
our revival, and confidently
demonstrating our bold, bright future."
