Lord-Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Presents
Glencairn Crystal with the King’s Award
for Enterprise in Innovation

Lady Haughey
(Susan) CBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of
Lanarkshire, visited Glencairn Crystal
Studio Ltd on 20 February 2026 to
formally present the business with its
trophy for the King's Award for
Enterprise.
As one of a limited group of
organisations across the UK to receive
this distinction, Glencairn Crystal was
honoured for its achievements in
Innovation—its fourth time earning this
remarkable recognition.
Established in 1981 and employing more
than 70 staff, the company is a
family-run enterprise specialising in
premium crystal and glassware for both
commercial clients and consumers. It is
highly regarded within the spirits
sector for its pioneering design
approach, exceptional craftsmanship, and
sophisticated manufacturing techniques
that successfully scale artisanal
processes for broader production.
For over two decades, the business has
also been responsible for creating the
world-renowned Glencairn Glass, the
first vessel crafted specifically for
whisky and now acknowledged
internationally as the official glass of
the industry.
The company previously received the
Queen's Award for Enterprise for
Innovation in 2006 and for International
Trade in 2012 and 2017.
Lady Haughey (Susan) CBE said: "As the
King’s personal representative in
Lanarkshire, I was delighted to present
the King’s Award for Enterprise - in the
Innovation category - to Glencairn
Crystal. To receive this prestigious
award for the fourth time is a
phenomenal achievement, highlighting
consistent excellence in design,
craftsmanship, and manufacturing, and
reflecting the passion, creativity, and
dedication of everyone at Glencairn
Crystal."
Scott Davidson, New Product Development
Director at Glencairn Crystal, said: "We
are incredibly proud to receive this
trophy for the King’s Award for
Enterprise for Innovation. As a
family-run business for over 40 years,
innovation has been at the heart of
everything we do and this award reflects
the dedication and talent of our entire
team. To be honoured once again is a
proud moment for us all."
The King’s Awards for Enterprise
represent the UK’s highest official
recognition for businesses, celebrating
exceptional accomplishments in four
areas: innovation, international trade,
sustainable development, and promoting
opportunity through social mobility.
Presented annually, they are widely
regarded as a hallmark of excellence for
British companies.
Now in their 59th year, the
awards—formerly known as the Queen’s
Awards for Enterprise—were renamed in
2023 to reflect the commitment of Queen
Elizabeth II’s successor, His Majesty
The King, to uphold her legacy of
recognising outstanding UK businesses.
