Do You Add Water To Your Whisky or Whiskey?
How do you drink your whisky? Do you drink your whisky straight as it comes out the bottle or do you like to have water with your whisky? Do you add other mixers such as ginger ale or coke. Do you drink your whisky with ice?

I am just curious to see how you all actually drink your whisky.
I voted no as i almost never add water to my whisky but i have done on very rare occasions with cask strength whiskies.

Hi Mark
Well I sometimes add a touch of water, not to take the edge off but to bring out the whiskies hidden characteristics. Certainly when tasting a whisky for the first time i will always try it with and without water.

Personally i almost never add water, I believe it dilutes the flavours of the whisky and reduces my appreciation of it. Having said that their are a few cask strength whiskies i have added a little water to. Overall i would say i drink my whisky without water.

I sometimes add water to my whisky but it all depends which whisky.
IMO water will bring out the hidden characteristics in some whiskies but with others it does nothing but dilute and weaken the flavour. Therefore as someone already said here when trying a whisky for the first time, i try it first without water and then with a touch of water.

I never put anything in my whisky, to me adding water does not bring out other flavours but dulls the flavours already their.

I would always try every whisky without water and then i would try it with a touch of water. More often than not i prefer it without but i do always try any whisky which is new to me with a little water to see if it will bring out any hidden characteristics.

I sometimes add a little water just depends on the whisky as some whiskies just do not take water and end up to diluted but i have got a great solution for when this happens i just add more whisky.
