|
|
Hi all,
I’ve recently moved a part of my collection into a cellar in my new house (around 30-40 bottles). The cellar has decent humidity, around a consistent 75-85% humidity. The temperature does however lower to around 11°C in the winter and I was worried if this would be slightly too cold for storing whisky long term?
I believe in the summer it rises to around 16° so the temperature range isn’t vast, but I was just worried if it would be too cold around now?
I have the bottles stored inside vented wooden crates so they aren’t directly exposed to the damp and cold temperature. I may just be being paranoid but let me know if anyone would move it to a warmer part of their home if it was their collection!
Thanks, Jack _________________ Jack |

Cold temperatures should not adversely affect the whisky in the bottles other than if it is non chill filtered it could appear cloudy but that cloudiness will disappear when the temperature rises and it wouldn’t affect the taste, but the packaging and labels may be affected if it is cold and damp at all. |
