I heard this on the radio in the car earlier. I wonder if it was only Grants blended whisky or if there was some malts on the trailer.

I only heard them mention Grants whisky on the news. This type of theft seems to be happening more and more in the last couple of years. |

I see they are now reporting the haul as £250000
This is what the BBC website says now
Quote: | Thieves have stolen more than £250,000 worth of whisky from a transport depot just yards from a police station.
Two loaded trailers of Grants-branded whisky, which were due to be driven to France, were taken from the secure compound at Locharbriggs in Dumfries.
The whisky arrived at the yard at about 1830 GMT on Wednesday. However by the time two drivers went to collect it at 0400 GMT on Thursday, it was gone.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
Those responsible made off with the haul despite the depot being protected by guards, electronic gates and cameras.
Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the two yellow container-style trailers had Currie transport insignia on the sides.
The yard exits onto the A701 Dumfries to Moffat road. Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen them being towed away to come forward.

They also show this photo of an empty parking lot,
I love the fact that it happened just yards from a police station. |

The police have put out an appeal to anyone offered any Grants whisky at knock down prices.
The tractor units; one a white Scania and a blue Daf, were found abandoned 30 miles apart in Wigan and Widnes six hours later.
Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said: "If anybody saw the trailers in either areas or are offered Grant's whisky for sale that they think might be suspicious, we would be glad if they contacted us."
Contact 0845 600 5701 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
