I recently bought a bottle of Springbank 10 from https://mldq.store. This site buys bottles from one person to then sell on to another person. When I received my bottle, I noticed that the foil on it had vertical crinkles on it. I'm worried that this could indicate that someone has carefully prized open the seal, drank or decanted the contents into another bottle and then filled it with an inferior whiskey. Am I being too paranoid?

Here is a picture of this foil:

It is difficult to say from your picture but you can get vertical crinkles when they apply/shrink wrap the seal. Try asking Springbank for their opinion, I am sure they would be happy to help if they can.

What are you referring to in terms of vertical crinkles, the markings above the perforated pull out part (right at the top of the seal) or the creases around the "neck" towards the bottom of the seal? Both look pretty typical for whisky seals to me tbf.

I was just thinking today how crazy it is that in just three or four years Springbank has become the Pappy Van Winkle of the whisky world. The CS 12yr was just £55 and you could still find it in stock online for that price months after its release, now people are jumping over thmselves to splurge £55 and more for the standard 10!

I need to build myself a time machine! Very Happy

I would say it looks normal to me.

Looks fine to me, if you're gonna fiddle with a bottle, why do it on a Springbank 10, it's a 50£ bottle. That being said, I noticed it's really easy to pull off the foil as a whole... Best to only buy in reputable shops, and not chasing the "hype" too much and risking fakes at auction houses and similar.

The quality of Springbank packaging has always been poor.
Bubbling labels, glue residue and inferior closures have always been common. I would like to think Springbank are trying to improve their packaging quality.

Looks normal to me too. I have a few Springbanks and they all look similar to this. As others have said, it is possible, but a lot of hassle for relatively inexpensive bottle.
