New member and first post. Hello all.
I have a question.
I am a fairly new scotch drinker and had a bottle of the Glenfiddich 18 Small Batch Reserve. After tasting numerous scotches I decided this is one of my favorites and wanted to get a few more bottles of the same. I looked at several local stores in vain and finally resorted to purchasing online. I ordered it from ABC liquors and received a bottle that did not look familiar. It is a Glenfiddich 18 Small Batch Eighteen which is not what they have pictured online.
The bottle I am familiar with comes in a brown rectangular container and has a brown label that says "Small Batch Reserve" with a 4 digit batch number in blue on the bottom left.
The bottle I received is in a blue cylindrical container with a blue top label with a small red ribbon printed on it and a gold main label.
A quick google search for "Glenfiddich 18" will show the two bottles.
My question.
Are these the same scotch or not? And, can someone provide links to information showing they are either the same or different?
I'm certainly not opposed to opening it up and drinking it and may do exactly that but I would like to know the truth. Is this is just a change in naming and bottling or a completely different product?
Thank you,
Richard |

Hi Richard and welcome to the SMW forum. The Glenfiddich have recently repackaged their 18 year old expression. The Glenfiddich Small Batch Reserve 18 year old which was presented in brown packaging as seen here https://www.htfw.com/glenfiddich-small-batch-reserve-18-year-old it is now known as Glenfiddich Our Small Batch 18 and is presented in blue and gold packaging such as seen here https://www.htfw.com/glenfiddich-test-whisky
It is the same whisky in the bottle, just the packaging has changed; it is created from a combination of Oloroso sherry and Bourbon cask matured whisky which is married together in batches of 150 casks. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

William,
Thank you for your quick response. I'm not surprised by the bottle or label change but I am surprised by the minor name change. It's funny, but I'm a little disappointed it’s the same. I was kind of hoping fate had picked a new scotch for me.
Thanks again,
Richard |
