The way things are going in the whisky world, good value is a deciding factor for most whisky lovers I would think?
With insane asking prices for many new bottles both official and independent it is getting harder to find a good quality to price ratio at the moment in my view.

I just wondered what other people are buying right now for their daily drinkers and why because I need to broaden my horizon's.

My good value bottles at the moment are:-

Old Pulteney 12 year as low as £24 , this is steal, just finished one
Laphy 10, got my last bottle for £29, not opened yet
JW Green 15 year can be found for £30 when on special offer, just finished one
Mackinlay's Shackleton can be found for as little as £18-£20 when on offer
Highland Black from Aldi is about £13, just finished one
Glenmo 10, £25, is a good daily sipper, not opened yet.
Tamnavulin sherry cask £22, tried it, liked it and for the money good value.

What are the other Glenmo's like, Cardhu Gold, that sort of thing, or anything from on line retailers worth trying?
Another one I used to get was Cragganmore 12, what are the latest bottles like?

What do others recommend?

Cheers

I try to always get an arran 10, ledaig 10, picked up a couple of Kilkerran 12's when released as well.

Usually I always get an Ardbeg 10, and a bit over budget I would go for Signatory Caol ilas ~46£. I do like my peat. Any good sherried ones you recommend?

I did pick up a Starward left fielded which is quite sweet, Australian wine cask finish which is interesting and definitely not too bad, would be happy if I get gifted one, but not sure if I'm going to run out to buy another one either. I do agree on the Tamnavulin and Old Pulteney, tho I haven't had them in a while.

Tbf, I had a Glenmorangie in a blind tasting which I highly rated, but something about it puts me off buying it, same with Diageo bottlings. Although I do enjoy the Caol Ila 10, and can enjoy a talisker 10 as well in that range.

There are still quite a few good whiskies out there in that price range.
Glenallachie 12 can be picked up for £42,
Glenfiddich 15 for £40
Benromach 10 £32
Deanston 12 £35
Talisker 10 £30-35
Arran 10. £35
Glenfarclas 10 and 12 £34-40
All decent drops (personal opinion of course)
You can also usually pick up some decent Laphroaigs, Glenlivets, Auchentoshens and Jura on special offer from most supermarkets as well

At this range it’s hard to look past JW green. But those that haven’t been mentioned:

Cotswolds Odyssey (2015?) malt is excellent.

Tomatin 12 is a dirty dram I quite enjoy secretly. A bit all over the place but give it time and you will be rewarded.

Scapa skiren has great notes but again, jumbled.

Crabbies 12 (blue box) whenever I’ve had it I’ve bought more.

Highland Park 10 Viking scars used to be hard to get in the UK but very, very good.

Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5 year old is good, occasionally found on offer for £33, still under £40 at full price.

Dalwhinnie Winters Gold is a good value dram when on offer for £25

The 2 Aerstone 10 year old offerings are good when on offer for £20, I usually find these in Asda

Don't want to hijack the thread, but has anyone tried the Bunnas, 12 and Stiuireadair ?

They are about £ 37- £ 33 respectively. Looking for a nice sherried entry as well.

    Laphroaig 10 and QC
Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire (widely speculated to be sherry-finished Laphroaig)
Caol Ila 12 - just over £40, but can be had for around £35 when on offer
Pretty much any non-specified Islay malt. There aren't any poor distilleries on Islay and NAS isn't always to the disadvantage of Islays if you like a big peat hit. Many of these are Caol Ila.
Any of the entry level bottlings from Springbank and its related brands (Hazelburn, Longrow, Kilkerran). These can usually be had for around £40, but you have to act quickly to get them whilst they are in stock.
Northstar Supernova. I am currently drinking the Mach 3 and am loving it.

Bunna 12 is unquestionably one of the best malts in scotland that regularly drops below £40. Never tried the Stiur, but all reports is that it is a pleasant but unexcptional budget NAS from Bunna.

Glenmorangie 10 is probably my most regular value for money dram when on for £25. A few other good value drams for me are Dalwhinnie Winters Gold, Cardhu Gold Reserve, Old Pultenet 12, Ardbeg Wee Beastie

Lagavulin 8 currently £38 in Tesco (with Clubcard) is pretty decent if you like strong Islay flavours.
