Nose
Quite expressive at first, very rich , plenty of spice, ever so slightly smokey.
Faint red apple, but more like a mix of apple and blackberry pie, hints of pepper and fizzy coca cola.
Palate
Creamy and fizzy palate at first followed by a big peppery/spicy blast but not that sweet.
What fruit is here is stewed for ages, some red plum, juicy blackberry and a hint of raspberry.
It seems to grow in fizziness , with the spice overriding the juicy fruit but it is a close battle.
It is the balance that holds thing together, not perfect but good enough.
Finish
Flavours are nicely combined with the spice finally giving way to the stewed dark fruits, nice dark jam note on the tail.
I enjoyed this one, something a little different, sometimes rum barrels just do not work but this one definitely does. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
