Anyone else looked at the 13 y/o Fermutation release and though: "Nah...!"
Would have loved to try it, but a bit dear? What do you all think? |

Yeah bought it, bit uncomfortable with the price but saw a couple of people with early samples say it was good. |

I bought it just because I’ve bought everyone for the last 8 years or so
Getting a bit pricey now |

Didn't particularly grab me. Sub £100 maybe. At £150, no thanks. |

I think I might be the only one who'd prefer to have tried the new make instead. |

Things are mental at the moment purely from a farming point of view
Fertiliser for barley has went from low £200s to well over £600 per ton.
Electricity has more than doubled
Staff wages are up and a problem sourcing staff
Lots of machinery is heading towards 1 Year delivery and has jumped in price.
Drop in single farm payment
That cannot be all absorbed at farm level and will probably be an additional cost to the similar ones distillerys are facing. The bottom end of the whisky market is going to have to go up and agree the bills have to be payed. |

You are right Ardbeg is available from there "Embassies" in the UK. But this bottling once again was meant to be and I quote "will be available exclusively to Ardbeg Committee members" and just as William quoted in his article.

Ok, well the email from Ardbeg about the Fermutation launch clearly states that this release would also be available from the Embassies...

https://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/ardbegfermutation.htm | RMW had the committee release last also, I believe. They are one of better whisky shops tjat release things as they get them without a major mark-up and have always been decent with me. Is it that the ‘committee bottles’ went out to ‘non committee’ people like RMW? Or that youve missed out? There will be plenty on the auction sites in the next few months, after the initial splurge from buyers who feel they ‘have missed out’, the price on this will level off, though i would gamble that this might even depreciate as it is a 13yo non single cask, my opinion only though. Good luck finding one if that is the bottle you must have. |
