Found a bottle of Kavalan that I have been after for a while from a store located in Germany, the price is pretty low for the bottle and delivery reasonable at €15. Has any one order whisky form Germany? Is there any extra cost implications on top?[/code] |

There could be, isn't vat payable in the country in Europe of the buyer, ask the seller if they deal with this or if you may possibly have to pay more. |

When shipping from 1 EU country to another technically it is up to the retailer to pay the VAT and duty for the appropriate country the whisky is being shipped to, I say technically as I doubt this rarely happens although it may show the VAT in the price. The company are supposed to have a representative in that country to liaise with HMRC for such payments
I have used sites in the EU and never had a problem, I do use LMDW quite a lot as well, once I put in UK as shipping address it adds 20% on to the price but if you play around and put a country not in the EU then it takes the VAT off (but remember that bottle would then be subject to local tax and duty rules). Just to add say the price you see is €100 it does not add the 20% on to that, the price you see includes the 20%.
As for shipping I have also never had a problem but to stress this is EU to EU country.
Remember if UK vote out this may all change in time. |

From HMRC, In a nutshell states the retailer is responsible.
Again to add this is EU to EU country
'If you distance sell any excise goods like alcohol and tobacco into the UK you always have to register for UK VAT. It makes no difference how much your distance sales are worth. You also have to register for UK Excise Duty. You’ll have to account for the VAT and Excise Duty in the UK.'
'You can handle your UK VAT affairs yourself if you want to. If you’re not established in the UK then you’ll deal directly with HMRC’s Non-Established Taxable Persons Unit once you’re registered.'
Hope this helps |

Okay guys, seems like it's the sellers issue. I've emailed the seller for confirmation. Thanks all |

I've ordered from a third party on Amazon.de before (Amazon themselves won't ship to the UK), that got through no trouble. |
