Hello All,
It's coming up to that time of year again...
My family are very generous when it comes to Christmas and I usually end up with at least a few bottles of whisky ever year. My brothers have already started asking if there is any specific bottles I might like and I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations in the £50-150 range.
All the best,

My budget is sub £50, sorry! So I’d be getting as many Deanston 12, Kilkerran 12, Springbank 10, GlenAllachie 12 & Bunnahabain 12 as I could for my money!
These have blown me away this year & I simply can’t imagine tasting anything g better! |

Are there any whiskies that you particularly enjoy already? It would help to know when making recommendations. |

Jez Helliwell: They are my usual go-to's as well! I would also recommend Glencadam 10. Great bank for the buck.
unblended: It's funny I was actually thinking about getting a nice bourbon. I'll take a look at Widow Jane, thanks. Any other bourbon suggestions?
Archer: You are, of course, correct. As I said above my usual go-to's are Glenallachie 12 & Glencadam 10. Last year I received a bottle of Tomatin 18 and Glendronach 21 both of which were superb. I'm not a great fan of peaty whiskies and my favourite bottle I had this year is probably Bladnoch 10.
Thanks for all the replies,

If you are way up at the top of the country, why not see what distillery exclusives are at Old Pulteney or a bit further down at Clynlish? Failing that a decent independent spirit shop to avoid contributing to Bezos flying up to the moon and back? |

I was sorting out the cupboard that I put all the whisky I buy in before I work out if I am going to open it or keep it for later and I found a bottle of Springbank 18 and a bottle of Daftmill 2009 Summer batch that I had forgotten I had so I am thinking of opening one over Xmas..
The question I have now is what one? |

My max spend is usually around £50, and I find you can get some really decent whisky for this budget.
Kilkerran 12 and Springbank 10 have both been mentioned already. Great whiskies, but difficult to get hold of this year (I managed to get a bottle of Kilkerran 10 from Master of Malt, but they were only allowing one per customer).
I am going to try a few "mystery malts" this year as I've had some good ones in recent years. Some of the better distilleries seem willing to supply whisky to independents, but only on the condition that their name isn't used.
So far I have purchased North Star Supernova Mach 3 and Orkney 12 Year Old Periodical (North Star) and I'm looking forward to trying them.
For family I have bought Talisker 10. Not particularly original, but an amazing whisky for £30 which is roughly what we tend to spend on each-other in my family. |
