Hello all, are there any airport-only whiskies that you recommend, in Heathrow if it matters (any style but nothing too weird) - thanks! |

The last time I was at the airport at Heathrow London was 1974. My recommendations would be a bit dated. I do find that many single malts at airports in general have increased in price and some are more expensive than in the shops. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Something good but not outlandish. $50-90ish.
Thanks! |

There are a pile of NAS options from the likes of Bunnahabhain, Glenlivet, Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich, etc. You'd have to pick one of those based on your own preference for strength/cask.
The only one I can think of that I've tried is the Tamnavulin Tempranillo which I found very enjoyable indeed. Smooth and easy drinking with some nice fruit from the cask. _________________ Inverness Whisky

I have to say in recent years, most airports I've visited haven't a particularly interesting selection of whisky. It's mainly blends like Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal etc. alongside some airport "exclusives" and NAS.
The prices aren't much cheaper than in retail shops (certainly in the UK) unless it is an offer.
You mention that you're flying from Heathrow. You can have a look at what whiskies will be on sale at the terminal you're departing from at their website:

Ask for airport-specific edition - at CPH airport you could get a cask strength Highland Park 14 for like 50 quid.
And ask for special discounts not on the website, they tend to have stuff stashed away - notable mention Octomore 08.2 for like 75 quid at Luton.
Depending on where you travel, you might get juicy prices on a selection of stuff - check that out, too. |
