i must admit i quite like the old 18year old it is better than the new small batch
i am not a fan of the old glenfiddichs at all
i am not a fan of scoring because i remember my first book from michael jackson he rated the peaty whiskies from islay
i was new to whisky i couldnt understand why he rated say lagavulin in the 90/s i tried and thought it was horriable
i now understand now what he was saying but at the time was totally bemused how things change

The same goes for beer, my dad used to say something like "it is acquired taste son, you will learn to love it"
Yup he was right, the same thing goes for whisky, how may times have you heard someone say that they had a bad experience with Bell;s or Grants when they were younger and never touched whisky again?
They are not trying hard enough then Smile

Due to its pricing and availability Glenfiddich whiskies have been a regular pour for me and I dont agree with lincoln imps rating of them at all

My rating:

Glenfiddich 12 year old 83 points
Glenfiddich 15 year old 88 points
Glenfiddich 18 year old 90 points

Tastes vary but these are far from being considered poor or bad whiskies IMO
Albie your rating is more inline with how i rate these,, it is all down to personal taste.

I suppose the answer i would really ask myself is would I buy a bottle of the regular 12, 15, or 18 on the strength of this tasting of 2021 issues and the answer is no.
I would however go looking for the old NAS and 8 year triangular bottles at auction.

I would go along with Albies scoring on these Imps is way out in comparison to my opinion of these

this also the same for glenlivets normal range the qualitys gone which is a shame
lincoln imps rating are spot onto me for the glenfiddichs that are ouy at this moment in time
albes ratings i personally dont understand but there you go

just goes to show we all rate whiskies differently
i like average not bad really good very good top notch and below average and what is that
that being loch dhu

I wouldnt rate Glenfiddichs current 12, 15 and 18 as low as Imp has rated them either, out of interest i looked them up in the Whisky Bible 2021 and Jim Murray has all 3 of them listed as a new entry for 2021, he rates them:

Glenfiddich 12 - 82 points, Glenfiddich 15 - 87 points, Glenfiddich 18 - 91.5 points

Having purchased these myself in the past year i would say Jims rating of them is spot on and much the same as Albie's
