Abrachan Blended Malt (no age statement) 41% bottled for Lidl £15.99 This is a later edition of this whisky in a clear dumpy bottle, no mention of triple barrels, ABV reduced from 42% to 41%, no tube, £1.51 cheaper than the original.

Appearance- Star bright, rich gold, good beads in the glass.

Nose - Big sherry nose on pulling the cork , then a distinct and enticing whiff of coastal air, sweet fruitcake, butterscotch, a little peat and smoke.

Taste - Good mouthfeel, rich, orange zest, slight salt, less sweet than the nose suggests, turning warm, slightly smokey and gingery, some spice, maybe sandalwood.

Finish- Medium length, slightly sweet, delicious.
