Glenfiddich today announced a new release of the Glenfiddich 30 Year Old. This year, for the first time, each bottle of Glenfiddich 30 Year Old will bear an individual bottle number and batch number. See here for more info and image:

They also announced the 6th release of the rare Glenfiddich 40 Year Old, with only 600 bottles released worldwide. See here for more info and image:

Putting a individual bottle number and batch number on the 30 year old will no doubt lead to some batches be rated higher than others increasing there value.

I am sure adding a batch number will now affect the value of future bottlings but i think it is a good thing. I had a Glenfiddich 30 last year which i got as a gift and it surprised me, it was a very nice dram, if it had had a batch number i would have been able to know if i was getting the same whisky if i bought another for myself.

Its not on the Glenfiddich web site yet but I dont know how up to date they maintain that.

Glenfiddich seem to be pretty slow at updating their website at the moment, they still have a Christmas promotion when you log into the UK version of the site and they dont mention these new releases on the site.

Glenfiddich just sent me the announcement of the new release yesterday so I would think it will be available in specialist whisky shops in the next week or two. If you are in a hurry to get your hands on some let me know and i can try contacting them to to find out where you can find some.

Brokenfather, I noticed that The Whisky Exchange have an earlier edition of Glenfiddich 40 year old which was bottled in 2000 if that is of any interest.

Yes I know, it's £2000 odd.

Master of Malt claim to have one too, but that price increased from £1200 to £1900 a couple of weeks ago. I nearly bought it a £1200 too but with christmas and all I was near my limit on my credit card so had to wait until the statement date to clear some space, damn lol.
