`93 - beige distillery label 40% 1990's
The nose on this is a little prickly at first on unripe white fruits and green apple with hints of white pepper.
The mouth feel is creamy and at 40% ABV ,this is not under powered.
A nice sweetness develops which is a mixture of yellow & white fruits gum flavours , lemon sherbet and lemon puff biscuits.
The finish is pretty simple and not that long but on the tail some spice mixing with kiwi and lime which adds to the overall experience.

Old blue label 43% 1990's
The nose is very similar to 93 - beige distillery label bottle but this has just a little more fruit.
The palate is not as sweet as that bottle at first but then the fruit gums flavours do increase and there is an icing sugar feel to the sweetness.
As you go on it gets a little dry and some lime creeps in but the sweetness seems to disappear and you are left with a metallic note on the finish that basically feels out of place and knocks it down a few points.
The extra 3% abv over the beige label has counted for nothing, which I find strange as they are both 1990's bottlings.
On the tail a little spice appears but it has gone a little flat by this point in the proceedings.

The 93 beige label was the best here but was 3% ABV less than the old blue label, strange as they were both from the same decade? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
