My wife was sorting stuff out and came across a price list from Loch Fyne Whiskies from Spring 2008, so as I write this, that song by Cher is going around my head.

Just thought I would list what stands out price wise, 13 years is a long time in whisky terms.

Just look at the price of those aged GM offerings, read them and weep!

Wow, But saying wow now but some of the new bottles I have now that I am keeping for different reasons (most to be opened) in 20 years could be worth a few £££

As I pointed out on a FB group I am in I have a bottle of Arran White Stag 1st release which I gave a mate for his 40th 2 years ago which is if not just about all gone? Just went for £2500 at auction.

I used to drink Ardbeg 1977 like it was water and it was only costing about £25 a bottle now look its going for around £600+

Yamazaki 18, Sherry Cask and Puncheon Cask were all £60ish back in 2011... wish I'd bought more...

I remember people telling me I was crazy spending so much money on a 23 year old single cask Longmorn - £70 back in 2008!

As as has already been said, if only we knew back then how whisky prices would be like today, I would would have stocked up back then. If anyone knows Dr Who's number, can they pass it along to me, I'd like to borrow his TARDIS

For me, the prices started to noticeable ramp up from circa 2015 onwards.

I've heard people talking about the whisky bubble bursting from around 2014, yet it still hasn't happened I think the only way it will burst for the 15 year and older age statements is if whisky suddenly goes out of fashion. I'd love to be wrong of course.

At least there's always Glenfarclas 25 year old for £99

I remember ‘hiding’ a pair of Glenfarclas 40s (from the 90s) from my missus just over 10 years ago. £400 and even then I overpaid

I remember sharing a bottle of Talisker 8 yr old with a mate over a late
night game of cards around 1978, we had both chipped in probably 2 or 3 quid each after a curry night out and finished the bottle in one go. This was the green bottle with the white label and the Johnnie Walker figure on top. Still a few around, at £799. Great whisky, sweet, golden turning sour and then HOT and huge pepper finish. Talisker 10 yr old in today’s bottling is a real tame pussycat, a shadow of the Seventies blend but admittedly more refined.

i started going into oddbins near where i live

got a couple of 10 year old macallans a private eye mini came with each bottle free i drank both of them a very poor macallan
now i see them selling for about £ 250.00 ouch
shame some whisky auctions are saying its a 1961 vintage unless somebody can tell me im wrong
michael jackson said a lot of the whisky was in its teens that went into the private eye
