I am getting tired of flat whiskies, what I mean is.. is that I want whisky like Lagavulin 16 or Talisker 18.
The liquid has to be thick and cover up almost all the alcohol. These 2 types could do that. I do think that the smoke playes a big factor here.
That's what I call the perfect whisky, do you have anything else for recommendation?

How do you get on with cask strength whiskies? Three whiskies immediately came to mind but they're all cask strength so you're gonna need to add water to remove all traces of the alcohol I guess, but basically my first thought reading this was:
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Lagavulin 12
Any Octomore malt, I've only tried a couple at festivals but they're very involving peat monster malts. |

I wanna try this type of Ardbeg but Octomore is way too peaty. I haven't tried it but the ppm number is ridicilously high.
Any other clues? _________________ Moonshiner on a journey |

See I've never tried Talisker 18 as it's on the upper end of my budget (most expensive bottle of whisky I've ever bought is Glenscotia Peated 14yr that was £70), so I'm kinda hesitant on what to recommend really based just on Lagavulin. Have you only tried the 16yr in their range? The 8yr is a cracker. Their Distiller's Edition is overpirced but very nice also.
Otherwise, have you tried Ledaig 10 and Ancnoc Peatheart? What about Kilkerran Heavily Peated? They're all great smoky drams, but not sure they hit that "so thick I can't taste the alcohol" criteria, but that's the thing: When it comes to our reaction to that nip of alcohol we're all subjective. I for instance like to drink cask strength whiskies without water so the alcohol burn isn't some that is that detrimental to me personally, ya know?
How aboout Kilchoman? Machir Bay? Sanaig?
I'll have to go through my whisky app on my phone and pull up all the peaty whiskies I've tried at festivals :D |

Agree with bigshing, great response on tasting big strong whisky, it’s gotta be tried first hit to see what it’s all about , my main thing is you gotta work up to these big hit stuff and decide yourself , 40% whiskies now bore me , |
