But that is if you are a whisky flipper?
All of the whisky I buy I am willing to open and yes I do have some bottles that are now over £2000 that some I got for my 50th, 60th and 70th and I will open them |

Fair enough.
For what it’s worth, I’ve never sold a bottle either. I collect for the enjoyment of it and don’t always look for it to be something which might make a profit. It will be something my children/grandchildren/friends will hopefully get some pleasure from when I pass on...although I’ll want to be buried with some of my favourite drams 🤣.
However, I’m quite sure that if a purchase anyone makes sees a significant uprise in value, then that surely has to be a good thing (for the purchaser).
People buy many things for investment purposes, or just to collect as a hobby, and that’s their choice. It may be to pass on to their family or simply to have as a part of a ‘pension’ pot for retirement. Who knows what situation someone might find themselves in and would it not be nice to know that if you were in financial difficulties you have something to fall back on. |
