I think I would have to hear it is a stunning dram at £55 for the Big Peat 12 before splashing the cash, there are a lot of good Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Kilchoman etc expressions for around that price. When did indie blended malts stop being a cheap alternative to original distillery bottlings of single malt. |

Totally agree. 46% 12 year old blend more expensive than some official bottlings and other alternatives at higher strength. |

All those artistic caricatures are not cheap
Seriously, I agree £55 for a blended malt is a lot. |

I'm a big DL fan, but the prices have continued to increase over the last few years at DL. Big Peat has a large fan base but in general the prices are horrible compared to a few years ago.
I'm buying far less DL these days as for the money the field is huge.
Prices in general are rocketing upwards, makes it a tough choice to buy one of these for the very first time to drink. Would I buy blind at this price range, yes. Would I buy these DL, highly unlikely. And I'm a fan. |

I would trust they are good but there really is a big choice of some outstanding Islay whiskies in this price range if you are after a peaty whisky, looks like they have rebranded to "Remarkably Priced Blended Malts" |

To be fair to them it’s no added colour non chill filtered with an age statement at a strength higher than the minimum 40% which is more than can be said for a lot of official Islay bottling (*cough* Laphroaig *cough*).
Though I do echo the other comments that it’s a little too pricey. |

Ok, but you can get the Ardbeg 10 for less than that! Also non-chill filtered, natural colour, and of course it's a 'cult' brand to boot. Struggling to see how the prices here are justified - it used to be the case that the independents offered cheaper and/or more natural expressions of established distilleries, but this is neither (other than Ardbeg, see also entry-level Bunnahabhain, Bruichladdich etc.). |

Well Tyndrum have the Epicurean 12 listed for £43.50, which seems more reasonable. |
