Hey m-mates, I'm looking for some answers.. maybe you could help?

Anyways, I'm looking for something 12-15 yo.. it has to be well rounded and smooth.. I'd say 40%, I feel that higher ABV is too strong for that age. I'm more on the bourbon side so I don't really care about sherry unless it playes a factor in a well rounded whisky. Not much into smoke, unless it's a little.

Oak, vanilla, honey, spice and malt up front Wink

Any good clues?

I would recommend something outstanding like The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year at 43% ABV. with much of the profile you're looking for.

Have a look at the Glen Grant 10 & 12 and if your budget will stretch the Glenfiddich 19 Age of Discovery Bourbon

Deanston 12 is an excellent young whisky and ticks all the boxes, but of course it's at 46.3% ABV. Just adjust the strength with water and you'll be hooked!

At 40%, you could have a look at Glen Moray 12. And there's Dalwhinnie 15, though it's at 43%.

It's a very wide category that.

You can't really go wrong with Balvenie if you're looking for honey'd smooth notes. The 13yo Doublewood is a great starter whisky and the 12yo single barrel us entirely first fill bourbon but more expensive. Even though the single barrel is higher abv it's not to strong and you can always add water.

Maybe Glengoyne 12, only 43% with some sherry influence?

If it's a straight up bourbon maturation then maybe Tullibardine Sovereign 43%, currently reduced to Â£25 at Sainsbury's. Younger than 12 though.

Thanks for your replies, I looked into some of them.. but what about Old Pulteney 12-15? It isn't availible here in Iceland but according to reviews I do think that is excactly what I am looking for, have anybody experienced it yet?

Funny you mention Old Pulteney 12, I was coming on here to throw that into the mix. I enjoy it and it has a little coastal twist with it.

Dalwhinnie 15yo sounds like it could fit your bill, it's a great price as well, but dont confuse it with Dalwhinnie winters gold. GL
