|
|
A heads up the Macallan fans amongst you, I received an email announcing the Macallan Folio 5 "The Luggy Bonnet"
Quote: | THE LUGGY BONNET
The Macallan Folio 5 is the fifth release of The Archival Series which celebrates our original advertising campaigns during the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
The advert featured as part of The Macallan Folio 5 tells the tale of the “Luggy Bonnet” with the words “Keep this knot firmly tied”. It features a story of acquaintances, when one sportsman talks of a so-called “disaster”, missing the opportunity of a dram of The Macallan from the Laird as a result of his hat covering his ears.
THE BALLOT IS NOW OPEN
We are pleased to offer you an opportunity to purchase The Macallan Folio 5 through an online ballot. Priced at £250.00, delivery is available to 29 countries.
To enter the ballot, simply log-in to your account, navigate to the ballot in your dashboard and enter by confirming your shipping address and payment card details before 11:00am UK time on Wednesday 22nd January 2020. | As what seems to be the norm with these releases there is little or no info on what you should expect to find in the bottle, such as age and contributing cask types. |

If the whisky itself was from the 70's, 80's and 90's that would be very interesting but I very much doubt there will be any whisky in the bottling from these era's, unless the Macallan wants to correct me and say what the contributing whiskies are. I have no doubt it will sell though as the Folio series seems to have captured the attention of collectors and drinkers with deep pockets. |

It would be great to see the 'ballot' under subscribed and hundreds of bottkes left to sell in the shop. £250 for unknown whisky, that's a giant leap of faith by the buyer.
Is there anyone here collecting them? Or drinking them,? |

I did have a couple of previous bottles, I did intend to collect them but ended up drinking them. |

Not me. Numbers must be relatively ''limited'' like the other folio bottles. |

Don't know anyone who was not successful!
Doesn't seem like the most limited release Macallan have ever done!
My fear is that it will only get worse! _________________ kind regards, Josh |

Perhaps the bidder is not from one of the countries eligible for the ballot. Or is just not price sensitive. |

All three collectors that I spoke to today were successful.
I didn't enter the ballot. Maybe I should have. Every one's a winner! |
