The best Swedish whisky i have tasted.

https://highcoastwhisky.se/en/products/63-2/

Situated at 63° N, High Coast Distillery is one of the world’s most northern whisky distilleries. Exactly where the 63rd parallel cuts through warehouse No.3 we have matured this unique, heavily peated whisky for 63 months.

63 consists of 100 % peated whisky (63 ppm) matured in 63 liter bourbon casks, for 63 months, 63 decimeters above the ground.
63 is bottled at 63 % ABV.

The 63 casks where built by a man born in 1963.

It sounds very interesting and I would love to try a few drams, but £69 + shipping and import tax that is a lot for a 5yo

This makes me somewhat skeptical because it sounds like a gimmick rather than what was in the best interest of the spirit. Surely if all that the distillery cared about was maximising the intrinsic quality of the whisky then some of those factors would have had to change to best fit the flavour profile?

At around the £100 mark in the UK it would be well down my list to try. Around half the asking price and I may take a punt on it. Although I realise the alcohol taxes in Sweden are punative.

no offence ment by this but...

the Swedish spirits are far better then atleast most of the GB spirits. therefor you dont have to mature it for 12y or more. (i dont mean the scotch but the the alcohol)

Im not a big fan of Swedish whisky but there are a few worth trying and this is one.

Scotch is making the vast majority of the worlds Whisky and has been for well over 100 years so sorry your saying Swedish whisky is better after 20 years then Scotch is just Wrong! I am a fan of Mackmyra and I have a few bottles of but they do not say they are better, they just say this is how we do it and we like it (and so do I)

I am sorry but there is a reason the spirit is matured and that is to give it Age, Body, Maturity, Character and a Depth of flavour that only comes with age.

Yes you can put the same spirit in a Frikin and it will be "mature" in about 6/8 months but there will be no body to it and no aged flavour.
There is somethings that can not be rushed in life and only get better with age Top Malt

But good luck with your sales pitch

Where the casks specially made, which distillery did they come from , what bourbon was in it?
I am just curious as it is a strange cask size that is between an octave and a quarter cask?
