Dr Nick savage previously of The Macallan collaborates with Bladnoch distillery one of the oldest independent distilleries in Scotland at over 202 years old. As most may know blended malt is on the decline and pure single malt is on the up, brands that do not own their own distilleries will not be able to produce pure single malt as the major players will be ‘teaspooning’ in order to drive single malt up.
What do you think a cask of pure lowlands single malt by Dr Nick Savage will be worth in 10 years?

Time will tell what having the name Dr Nick Savage behind the Bladnoch brand will have on its value in 10 years time. I believe Nick was only at the Macallan for 3 years so you cant really say he has had much of a hand in the Macallan we have tasted in his time there as what was distilled in his time can only be around 3 years old and hasn't been bottled yet. Certainly he will bring with him the knowledge of how they do things at the Macallan, will that knowledge and his name increase the value of Bladnoch in 10 years, as I already said, time will tell.

I wouldn't have said that blended malt is on the decline, quite the opposite.

I agree, the problem is part down to NAS whisky, I for one would prefer a 20 year blend than a crappy Macallan NAS, of which there are may to choose from at the moment.
Age statements still mean a lot to many people.
