One of Campbeltown’s three surviving distilleries, Glen Scotia, has released an exceptionally rare limited release single malt, in fact its oldest expression to date, a Glen Scotia 45 Year Old which has matured in refill Bourbon casks for around 37 years then finished for around 8 years in a first-fill bourbon cask.
Non-chill filtered and bottled at 43.8% ABV, as you can imagine you will need deep pockets to taste this one with a price of £3,795

I wonder if anyone will actually ever open a bottle at that price, these premium offerings are not aimed at drinkers but high end collectors? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I went on a tour of the distillery yesterday and at the end myself and the only other guy on the tour sat down with Iain McAlister there distillery manager and have a good chat about it. He did not me me try some of the 45yo but I got to try the 25yo which is just so amazing also 2 other limited bottlings 1st was a 19yo cask #359 and the other was a 6yo cask #243 all of which are just stand alone amazing whiskies.
Amazing place and even more amazing people! |
