Just noticed that this one, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 is on offer on an allotment (lottery) basis here in Ontario Canada from Vintages branch of LCBO. The 2017 has zoomed up in price. The lottery price is much less, hence the demand to participate.
Anyone try this one? I put in for one but it’s a lottery shoot.😠_________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I don't think the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon makes it over to this side of the water. But I wander if it will be considered more collectable or desirable due to the fact when they bottled the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2017 it was bottled at two different proofs – 96 and 95.6 – as alcohol vapours were lost during the first transfer of Bourbon from the holding tank to the bottling line.
Apparently Kentucky was the only state that received both proofs. Florida and Georgia received the 95.4 proof and remaining states received the 96 proof bottling. I don't know the bottle numbers that went to each state but I would guess that the 95.4 proof is the rarer bottling. Do you know which expression the lottery is for? |

I’ll look into it.
Cheers
Update: No mention anywhere of ABV for this one in the allotment. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
