|
|
Diageo has announced the launch of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare the first edition in a new series of Special Releases.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare has been crafted using just 8 whiskies including iwhiskies from "ghost" distilleries that have long since closed, together with other rare malt and grain scotch.
Each edition will be crafted with one whisky at its heart and at the heart of this first edition is Brora single malt

I hope this is an improvement on the regular blue label, the last bottle I tried (2016) was rubbish compared to what it was like 10-15 years ago. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I agree with Lincoln! Not a patch on it's predecessors. Though they do have it in the BA lounge so I have no issues with drinking it for free... |

I have had some outstanding Johnnie Walker Blue Label expressions over the years, one limited edition that comes to mind which was outstanding was the Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Casks Edition which was one of the best Johnnie Walkers I have tasted.
Hopefully this new Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare is something special, it certainly has a headline making single malt at its heart, Brora. |

I recently picked up a bottle of the standard Johnnie Walker Blue Label for just under £100 in a Amazon deal and have absolutely no complaints about it, in fact quite the opposite, a superb blend. I wouldn't mind tasting this new Ghost and Rare, I am sure it will sell no problem with Brora featuring as a main component. |

Do you know what % is Brora, everyone is focussing on that fact and they are obviously plugging that line , does anyone know, polite question? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

If they are plugging the fact that there is a little bit of Brora in the mix and you are paying £220+ for the privilege but it will not taste anything like a Brora so the fact that Brora is inside is pointless really.
Why not save your money , dig deep and try and get a good IB for under £500 before prices get any higher.
Why plug the fact there is Brora in it , if the final product does not resemble a Brora?
Just my polite thoughts, whisky is going up steadily get the Brora now if you can stretch that far before all the flippers and chancers have hovered them up.
Unless you love JW (I agree they do some nice offerings) why worry about the Brora angle? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

You beat me to it Shut, I had posted an announcement of the new Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Ellen here:
http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/johnniewalkerbluelabelghostrareportellen.htm
They haven't revealed the RRP yet but I would assume it will be around the same price as the Brora edition launched at the end of last year which was £220 _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

This one is now available in Ontario, Canada for $535 Canadian dollars at the LCBO. Interesting that it was released in Canada before Great Britain. Looks like 120 bottles here at the moment.
