Color
Russetmuscat
Nose
Very elegant indeed, on sweet plum, some brandy notes, milk chocolate, juicy raisins, , notes of fresh cream.
Taste
Smooth, wow that is some palate but as expected at this age there is some bitterness at first and I detect hints of black currant.
Sweet caramel, salted caramel also, a few smoked meat notes n the mix.
Finish
Good medium length, smooth and its getting sweeter but the oak is in the background but its there.
My sort of Glenfarclas , its not heavy sherry version, so elegant but the oak has got it a little and I think this was bottles a few years too late but that (humbly) is me nit picking.
Just tried this head to head with the 1953 50 year Adelphi TWTCBN
The Adelphi just shades a close contest because the higher abv give it more staying power and the oak is more noticeable on the 1954.
There is an added sweet note on the Adelphi but they are both similar profile wise and neither is heavy sherry, both are excellent. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
