Just wanted to post a quick shout out re: my local watering hole - the Miro Whiskey Room in downtown Los Angeles. The basement bar alone boasts a fantastic collection of whiskies from around the world, but the Whiskey Room is where you will find their old & rare collection.

From their website:

Located in the back corner of The Basement Bar, The Whiskey Room offers some of the rarest and most highly allocated spirits in the world, in a setting unlike any other in Los Angeles. Comfortable couches and armchairs, soft lighting, and relaxing music provide an escape from the hustle of Downtown, and the more excited pace of the restaurant just outside The Whiskey Room's doors. With seating limited to 20, guests have the full attention of a knowledgeable staff who are ready to guide aficionados of Scotch, Japanese, American, and other world whiskeys through customized flights that explore a desired region or style. They are also on hand to help introduce the interested novice to the basics. All bottles in the whiskey room are offered in 1- and 2-ounce pours, making it easy to sample a variety of expressions in a single visit. With the option to purchase full bottles, which can be stored in lockers, guests are given the opportunity to enjoy the rarest whiskeys in the collection over multiple visits with friends and colleagues.

What are the prices like for a flight pf single malts? Some bars are like museums, you can review the offerings but the price points are "look at" only. How about there?
