Auchentoshan is opening its archives as part of its first whisky festival on August 29 at the lowland distillery by Dalmuir, Glasgow.

As part of a busy programme of events, the £100 Archive Tasting will include the rare Black Bowmore 1964 and White Bowmore 1964, the classic Auchentoshan 1957 and Glen Garioch 1958 - distilleries now part of Suntory Ltd.

Running from 11am to 6pm, entertainment will include the launch of Auchentoshan's first triple conditioned real ale in the real ale tent, cookery presentations from top chefs, a mixology demonstration with tasting sessions, farmer's market and whisky masterclasses.

Iain McCallum, Auchentoshan distillery manager, said: "It's a fantastic day out for those who love good food, enjoy being inspired and introduced to new tastes and are happy to receive top tips from some of the masters in the field of whisky."

Other activities include a sushi and malt tasting with former chief blender of Suntory, Dr Koichi Inatomi, a chance to blend your own malt from ten Auchentoshan casks, live music and a barrel-making demonstration.

Established in 1823, Auchentoshan distillery is one of the few remaining working lowland distilleries in Scotland.

More details at www.auchentoshan.com or call 01389 878561. A £5 entry fee includes a dram and tour of the distillery. Masterclasses can be booked separately.

This was a great day out. The ale was superb and the 'botle your own' 19yo half price!

Can't wait until next year.

No, too pricy for me I'm afraid. A friend brought out his glasses with a little of each for me to try, but by that time of the day I really couldn't taste much.

Very Happy
