Unfortunately we get very few of the whiskies in our Lidl stores that you get in the rest of the UK, I rarely bother going in to have a look but will have a look for this next time I am in.

My cousin tried the Abrachan several years ago in a taste test and it beat everything that night including several single malts. But he said it was a vatted malt and I'm wondering if Lidl have changed it to a blend since then. Chances are it's not the same recipe as it was a few years ago and there are some good blends out there for less than £17.99. For me it seems quite pricey for a blend from Lidl. If it were £11.99 I'd consider it but I don't think I've ever seen it reduced.

On the box it says triple cask, rum, port pipes and bourbon run cask.

Tasked it two weeks ago and had the option of the Abracken or a Jura. I tried the Abracken but it tasted how can I say raw and un-aged. It did state it was a single malt but no age so suspect the colour was false and the Jura to follow was bliss.
