THE world's first internet television channel dedicated to single malt Scotch whisky launches this month.
Singlemalt.tv, the brainchild of Hollywood film producer Rob Draper, will offer news, features and specialist programmes.
Draper, an Australian film producer who has worked on some of Hollywood's biggest projects, believes internet TV is a huge growth industry.
The 24-hour channel, hosted by whisky expert Charlie MacLean, aims to tap into the growing worldwide interest in single malts. It will also pioneer the online TV market for specialist interest programming.
Draper said preliminary interest has exceeded expectations: "We have shut down one server in the United States because it can't handle the volume of traffic coming into it."
The channel, hosted by Narrowstep will be available to subscribers for about £20 a year.
Draper is hoping to attract significant targeted advertising revenue. He said the idea came to him while working the US, where the major TV networks are struggling to attract advertisers.
