I have a bottle each of these that I originally purchased.

Very Old Ardbeg (30 year) in original wooden box
Rare Malts Port Ellen 1978 release in original cardboard box

Both in excellent condition. Stored in cellar, no sunlight or heat.

The rub is that I'm in the USA (Portland, Oregon).

I see a lot of recommendations to use http://www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com. Are there any US based alternatives? Otherwise I'm taking them back to the UK on my next visit and shipping them upto SWA in Glasgow.

Suggestions?

dorkshoei, Bonhams in New York host a few whisky auctions each year, the next auction is 30th April.

Thanks.

Anyone have an approximate valuation on these bottles. Obviously I've seen (google) what prices specialty retailers have them listed for but I'm not sure how this approximates to auction prices.

Whisky shop prices and auction prices can be very different.

There has been more than one Rare Malts Port Ellen 1978, i know of a 22 year old and 20 year old and recently i have seen them fetching £500 - £600 at auction.

The Ardbeg 30 Very Old i have seen going for between £400 - £600 just depends on the bidders on the day at auction.
