The LCBO just announced carrying a new assortment of Irish single malts, blends and single grain whiskeys. Here are some of them: Any comments?
West Cork Original Irish Whiskey
Tyrconnell 10 Yr Port Cask Finish Single Malt
Tyconnell Single Malt
Greenore 8 Year Single Grain Irish Whiskey
Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey

Murray I have found the Cooley Distillery bottlings Tyrconnell a bit hit and miss for instance when i first tasted the Tyrconnell Port Cask Finish it was superb but i tasted it again last year and it was no more than average, the standard Tyrconnell single malt is pleasant enough if you can pick it up at a good price.
Midleton Very Rare is a annual release and can vary quite a bit in quality from ok to brilliant but usually it is pretty good stuff but not that cheap for a blend.
I am not familiar with the West Cork Original Irish Whiskey, i would suspect it is a independent bottling. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

William, thanks for the insight on these expressions. They haven't indicated prices yet for the Tyrconnell's. I haven't quite figured out what the LCBO means in real time when it announces that a spirit is "coming soon". They seem to be on a sliding temporal scale in this regard.

Totally agree with Williams comments.
The Midleton Very Rare 2012 release was excellent. |
