Sometimes voucher site deals aren't everything they seem but this one seems reasonable:

https://www.livingsocial.com/cities/214-edinburgh/deals/827930-isle-of-islay-retreat?afsrc=1&utm_campaign=digest_dailynotpersonalized&utm_content=214&utm_medium=email&utm_source=blast

The hotel is in Port Ellen and the room comes with a 50cl bottle of (unspecified) whisky. Deal expires in seven days!

A very tempting offer, i will have a word with my non-whisky drinking wife in the morning to see if she fancies driving me around Islays whisky distilleries for a few days.

Yes this is tempting, i have visited a few distilleries and they all become a bit the same after a few but a trip to Islay could be good and a visit to a couple of distilleries and perhaps the chance to pick up a unique distillery only bottling id=s tempting.

I'd love to go though is not easy getting to Islay nor is it cheap.

That is true but this would subsidise things a little.

What is the best way to get there and how much does it cost? Do you need a car to get about?
