I would have to say my favorite distillery is Lagavulin on Islay. The only time I was in Scotland was in 1979 when my plane to London was caught in heavy fog and we had to land twice at Prestwick before finally landing at Healthrow. Hence, I have yet to visit any distilleries in Scotland as of yet as my home base is Canada. I would love to hear about anyone's experiences touring Lagavulin and the most interesting parts you enjoyed.

Quaich1 it has been a few years since i have been to Lagavulin or any of the Islay distilleries but i can highly recommend any peaty whisky drinker to go. Islay is a great place, friendly people, excellent distilleries and some outstanding whisky.

Lagavulin is on the southern shore of Islay and has a great view across Lagavulin Bay to the ruins of Dunnyveg castle. The visitor centre was in a former maltings and they had friendly knowledgeable staff. I done the warehouse demonstration tour which gave me a good insight into the workings of Lagavulin and then a sampling straight from a cask in a warehouse. Top Malt

JAB should have some good pics and knowledge as i think he is on Islay often.
