Spotted two good whisky bargains in my local Asds today.
Glenlivet 18 year old for just under £23 and Glenfiddich 15 year old solera reserve for £20 and a few pence. Dont know if they will be available everywhere as they looked like they where reduced to clear.

Hi William,
Just been to Elgin's Tesco and Asda to check prices out before Christmas and you are right. Most of the great Malt's prices are coming down but not as much as last year. I'll wait a couple weeks !

Hi Rene,
I agree there doesnt appear to be the same bargains around as there was this time last year. I am holding back from restocking also. Some of the better deals i picked up last year didnt appear until between the Christmas and Hogmanay period.

I agree they definitely dont have as many malts now as they used to have. Pity as Tescos needs the competition to keep the prices down.

Spotted these in Asda, I would think this is as cheap as you may get this Christmas:
Highland Park 12 for £18.97
Laphroaig 10 for £18.70
Glenfiddich 12 for £18.72
Ardbeg 10 for £21 good price but Tesco is now under £20 on this one
Dont know how long there offers last

Hi keebs
All the single malt offerings from the supermarkets are great value for money. I dont think it would ever be confirmed what is in the supermarket bottlings i am sure it is a closely guarded secret. Over the years i have heard many big brand names mentioned as suppliers to the big supermarkets such as Glenmorangie and Caol Ila but we will never have this confirmed. I suppose part of the fun is trying to guess what is in the bottle.
Personally i have found Tesco offer the best choice out of all the big supermarkets, their Highland (which a few people believe is Old Pulteney) and Islay whiskies are worth trying. The problem with the supermarket malts is what is in the bottle could change at any time and you will never know because they dont put a New Improved label on the bottle like they do with their baked beans.

Thanks Alastair, this is a great saving on the normal price, almost a crime not to buy a bottle. I will pick one up when i am out at lunch time.
