Latest from Speyside;

Mortlach F&F 16yo is gone . . . . . it's Dufftown's favourite dram and also for most of our visitors here during the year.
Reason: all Mortlach output is now going into blended whiskies like Johnny Walker, Bell etc. and all goes oversees to the Far East, Brazil etc.
All we have now is Gordon & MacPhail's 15yo and other Independent bottlings. Sad

WE HOPE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST OF MANY ~ ~ ~ DIAGEO Mad
Listen to us the malt whisky lovers of the World ! ! ! and don't put all the money in your banks because of the Far East ! Evil or Very Mad

Well said Rene

I am surprised they are with-drawing the Mortlach F&F 16yo, i dont know the figures but i would have guessed it was one of diageos more popular malts from their flora & fauna series. It is certainly one of my favourites from the F&F series.

I do not have one individual favourite (i have a few favourites), but it would be sad to see any one of my favourites disappear especially for no other reason other than to go into blends which basically is a financial reason.

The Mortlach F&F 16 is a favourite of mine. It is sad to see it go but this move by Diageo makes me mad that they are doing it for money reasons.

I have 1 bottle of Mortlach 16 year old in my cupboard, i shall have to try get a hold of some more before it disappears. I am sure when word gets around that this is to disappear any stocks of it that is still on whisky shops shelves will sell out quickly.

Yes this is sad i also enjoy the Mortlach F&F 16.

I havent tried Gordon & MacPhail's 15 year old bottling how does it compare anyone tried it, is it a good substitute.

I wouldnt have guessed that the Mortlach F&F 16 would stop being available but thats a big company for you, all about profits.

I wonder whats next on Diageos hit list.

I would not be happy if any of my favourite tipples where to disappear from whisky shop shelves. I would think it unlikely that my 2 favourites Ardbeg or Lagavulin are likely to disappear.

LATEST RUMOURS
Rumours are going around that Mortlach MAY be back in the future under the umbrella of "The Singleton of Mortlach". You may have seen "Singleton of Dufftown" firstly in Duty-Free shop and now on the shelves of whisky specialists in the UK. Rolling Eyes
It looks like that, after Singleton of GlenDullan which will be or is the next in-line "Singleton's" , Mortlach could follow 'in small batches' , so hopefully not ALL is lost ! !

Mortlach 16yr old Top Malt one o my favorites I'm sad to see that it's to be withdrawn.
Unfortunately thats the price of being in with the Devil Twisted Evil and accountants and share holders. Vintage malts are VERY big buisness now and if the returns are not what they should be then smaller whisky brands suffer.
Watch this space when Diageo opens their new fancy plant on the coast.
Lets just say the Japanese have had MULTI PRODUCT plants for years Rolling Eyes Wink
