Famous Grouse have announced the release of a heavily peated blend which they have named Famous Grouse Black.
It is intended to compete with the popular Islay malts but at a more affordable price. Black Grouse will first be released across the Scandinavian market and then introduced into the UK.
It will be interesting to taste just how peaty this whisky is.

I wonder what the price is going to be and how it will compare with existing smoky/peaty blends such as Black Bottle and Smokehead. If it is as good as smokehead and has a price around £10 - £12 then i think they will be onto a winner.
Odd how they are releasing it in the Scandinavian market first, i guess the Scandinavian market goes for peaty whisky in a big way.
