Having seen Asda switch the the other week, I now see Tesco have also downgraded from Highland Park 12 to the 10 yr Viking Scars instead.

I had assumed this was purely to meet a price point, currently £24 on club card but Morrisons too have moved from the 12 to the 10 which suggests this being driven by the distillery / distributor if many of the supermarkets are downgrading.

£38, not an exceptional price. Maybe if it's now part of their range, you could see a clubcard offer now and again.

Thanks for the tip, but the usual story - empty shelf. Went in Sunday morning 12th and a sticker on the shelf said more stock Saturday 11th Confused

I think the 8 is great as well. Seems that Diageo are positioning the 16 as the premium product (typically priced at £65 compared with £49 a couple of years ago). This makes sense as it was always expensve for an entry level Islay, but cheap for a 16 year old. I personally don't think there is much to choose between the 8 and 16.

I prefer the 8 to the 16 but still have a lot of time for it. Do I think it's worth £65 at 43%? No. But if you can managed to pick it up closer to £50 then it's still worth it.
