Glenlivet XXV 25 year 43% OB

I have an unopened bottle I bought a few years back. Expect to open it in the next year or so. Too many open at the moment. What's your opinion on the 25?[/quote

I really like it, they use first fill oloroso casks.
I have tried batch 0913A & batch 1117D before and scored them both an average of 91 points but now anywhere between £300-£360 in the UK it is too expensive, why pay the extra money for a fancy wooden box, they could just due a standard package and knock £50 off perhaps?

Because, at £300-£360 this is seen the majority of people as a serious purchase, something highly luxuirous and opulent. For it to justify that cost it needs to be in lavish packaging. Yes, I'm talking about people with much less Whisky knowlege than most on this forum, they're looking at the Brand, the Age and the presentation and (if it ever gets opened) I'm sure they enjoy it but not to the extent that an experienced Whisky drinker.

Basically, it needs to look pretty on the shelf, it's a status symbol.

Yes , I see what you mean, which is why I got a bottle without a box for £180, the shop wanted £240 (£315 with a box) but as I explained politely a collector would not be interested in buying it, all I want to do was drink it.. That is the issue I suppose £180 was all I was prepared to spend on a 25 year, even if it had the fancy packaging, I still would have only been interested in paying £180 tops, as a drinker that is what it was worth to me,
