A few recent additions for me,
Machrie Moor Cask Strength (bought this on my first trip to Arran and managed to visit the standing stones themselves!)
Balblair 05 vintage (12 year)
Deanstone Kentucky cask matured
Only opened the Deanston so far. Very keen on it as an easy drinking dram. Very affordable price. |

I have an unopened bottle I bought a few years back. Expect to open it in the next year or so. Too many open at the moment. What's your opinion on the 25? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I really like it, they use first fill oloroso casks.
I have tried batch 0913A & batch 1117D before and scored them both an average of 91 points but now anywhere between £300-£360 in the UK it is too expensive, why pay the extra money for a fancy wooden box, they could just due a standard package and knock £50 off perhaps? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Because, at £300-£360 this is seen the majority of people as a serious purchase, something highly luxuirous and opulent. For it to justify that cost it needs to be in lavish packaging. Yes, I'm talking about people with much less Whisky knowlege than most on this forum, they're looking at the Brand, the Age and the presentation and (if it ever gets opened) I'm sure they enjoy it but not to the extent that an experienced Whisky drinker.
Basically, it needs to look pretty on the shelf, it's a status symbol. |
