SMOKEHEAD's Innovative Packaging Takes Gold

Edinburgh, 11 January 2007 SMOKEHEAD, the new Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky launched last year by Ian Macleod Distillers, has won a Gold Medal in its debut at the Wine & Spirit Design Awards 2007.

Competing in the Spirit category, Smokehead was awarded a Gold Medal in recognition of its "stand-out' contemporary designer packaging which creates both "wow' factor and brand value.



Designed by London-based agency Navyblue, the strong upbeat design and packaging of Smokehead appeals directly to the "modern drinker' as well as reflecting the explosive and powerful flavours of this heavily peated, high quality Islay Single Malt.

Smokehead Whisky Now Available At A Sainsburys Near You

Ian Macleod Distillers has just agreed a deal for SMOKEHEAD, the new Islay Single Malt Whisky to be stocked in Sainsbury's stores throughout the UK .

Sainsbury's is the first UK wide supermarket chain to stock this contemporary and individual whisky.

Following last month's announcement of Smokehead as a Gold Medal winner in the Spirit category of the W&SDA, Smokehead has now won the overall Design of the Year trophy.

Chosen by a prestigious judging panel of top journalists, design professionals and buyers from both retail and on-trade, Smokehead fought off the strongest competition ever from other Gold Medal winners such as WM Grant & Sons Monkey Shoulder and Diageo's J&B -6°C. Smokehead was judged to have the best overall "stand-out' impact and clearest fulfilment of the design brief.
