So difficult too say as they are all excellent and I often find it depends on my mood.
However, I think beyond doubt that the most IMPROVED Islay distillery is Bunnahabhain especially now they bottle at 46% with chill-filtering. The new 12yo is as good as anything you'll find on Islay in that price range |

I voted for Laphroaig but I think had the poll started after the release of the new Bunnahabhain it would've got a lot more votes. Also, I'm surprised Caol Ila is the least popular so far. |

I like Bunnahabhain 18 YO Islay Whiskey
This whisky fascinates by its fragrant and tantalizing aromas. Its unique taste is distinguished by mellow sherried nuts and shavings of the finest natural oak wood. |

My favourite Islay is:
Ardbeg
Bowmore
Bruichladdich
Bunnahabhain
Caol Ila
Lagavulin
Laphroaig
Port Ellen
What can i say, i like them all but if pushed i have a preference for the whiskies from Ardbeg, Lagavulin or Laphroaig. Of course Port Ellen is excellent but my wallet aint so keen. |

Lagavulin 16 - still. But I continue to try more things, willing to amend my favorite. _________________ Slainte |

I voted for the "new" Bunnahabhain 12 - was introduced to it last year at the whisky bar in the hotel I was staying at on Loch Rannoch, and immediately ordered a bottle from Amazon for when I got home. I lost my sense of smell completely a few years ago - good when changing nappies, not so good for...well, most other things, including tasting. That makes Islay malts my go-to these days, although there are a number of similarly smoky/peaty Japanese offerings that I also dip into from time to time! I'd rate the Bunnahabhain 12 my favourite day-to-day single malt, but the Yamazaki sherry cask is still my all-time favourite. |

Ardbeg for me currently. I recently got into Scotch after 5 years of bourbon everyday.
When I first tried Ardbeg 10 I absolutely despised it. Could not get past the smoke as my senses were so accustomed to bourbon.
After a short bourbon break I tried Lagavulin 16 and began a craving for Islay malts.
My wife declared the Lag16 not smokey enough, so I grabbed the Ardbeg 10 and that's been our favorite so far.
Laphroiag 10 Cask Strength is next on our list. |

My favourite is Caol Ila and then Bunnahabhain. A good Caol Ila can rival any port Ellen. The worst by a country mile for me is Ardbeg, it is over priced, over hyped and trading on its glory days from the early 1970`s. The profile of cheese & sweaty socks never impressed me.
Laga & Laphy are also pretty good. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

My favourite is not in the poll as it is Kilchoman Loch Gorm. It is a beautiful drink and I was fortunate enough to have a friend bring me a bottle.
I went for Caolila and probably the 18 y.o. is so nice. I was in a nice whisky pub in Glasgow where I had some 12 y.o. Caolila at a nice price. Lagavulin 16 y.o. would be my next favourite, however I am very much a novice and have not even tried a Bowmore as yet and don't have the $1500 needed for Port Ellen! |

Caol Ila for me, it has such a varied profile and is value for money.
One of my highest ever scoring whiskies is a Caol Ila the 1974 17 year Signatory Dumpy 61.1% casks 5-9, I scored it even higher than the Caol Ila Managers Dram sherry 15 year. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Ardbeg 10 for me for it's affordability, complexity, quality and taste. I had the pleasure of going on their distillery tour and tasting 5 drams - they treat their customers so well. They gave such generous samples and I loved all 5.
I love all the Islays I've tried to date though! So many of those Islay bottles are on my wishlist to buy! |
