Here are my tasting notes on my first bottle of this Canadian whisky which I tried today.
Neat- Color-Clear Body-Light Looks like Vodka but is Whisky
Nose: Cream Soda and Sprite soft drinks, citrus (particularly lemons, grapefruit and limes), fruity, honey dew melon, Juicy Fruit Gum, smokey sweet with a hint of anise.
Palate: Real smooth, cherry/strawberry rush, creamy and rich, creme de menthe, spice, spearmint, fresh and cleansing with a little citric bitterness that folds into cayenne and oak tannins.
Finish: Lingering finish, mint, throat lozenge (dare I say Fisherman's Friend), real smooth with a citric magic carpet ride.
***I must admit that I am first and foremost a single malt scotch man. Having said that and living in Canada, I also appreciate Canadian Whisky. White Owl is an appealing and enjoyable, dare I say "dram" that is well-balanced with a fragrant citrus-fruity nose and a bang for the buck palate and finish as well. A high class whisky with a more reasonable price point. Way to go Canada, high fives.... _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
