I have changed my mind a bit on NAS whiskies. My current view is that what's important is the liquid in the bottle, not the typescript on the label.

SMWS 144.1 (High Coast). And soon to receive SMWS 145.1 (Smogen). Never tasted an expression from either distillery, so should be intriguing.

Was one of 80 (out of allegedly 600 entrants) who got a bottle of this in the Society's UK ballot. Will be my first experience of Swedish peated whisky. Hopefully, the peat isn't overwhelming.

I got through to Tomatin. Unaware of any "Strathdearn" variant

Anyone familiar with a Tomatin Distillery single malt variant called "Strathdearn"?

(NB I obviously know that there is a separate distillery called Strathearn)

Still not heard whether it was a "yes" or "no" in TWE's Pappy ballot

Daughter lucked out in the TWE Pappy ballot. She did an entry for each of the five bottles.

We similarly entered all five ballots, but have heard zilch.

Online auctions are a little bit problematic just now. But, in normal times, are a safe way to sell to a huge market. The big players take minimal or no seller's commission.

On the one hand, it seems a little 'shallow' to think about alternative investments just now.

But for those lucky enough to have savings, it is perhaps more important than ever to protect them.

Richard was interested in owning rare bottles. Packaging didn't interest him. And he clearly wasn't fussed about evaporation. I did notice that a lot of lots hadn't met their optimistic reserves.
